Don’t Despise Small Beginnings
I have an entrepreneur’s heart. I’m also easily bored. Once I’ve learned a skill or gotten something going, I’m ready to move on to the next thing. That’s why I’m a life coach. I get to help others start new things. It satisfies my need for change while helping others find their true north.
I’ve been blessed to have founded and grown five businesses. A couple didn’t do so well. Others rocked. All of them started really small. I mean grain of sand tiny.
I’d get one client. I’d sell two books. Wow! Stop the presses. Now that’s news! It was discouraging at the time. Nothing was happening… or so I thought. I’ve learned a lot during my journey through entrepreneurship that I’d like to share with you:
Passion is King, Patience is Queen. Even in our world of instant everything, you won’t build a dream overnight. Passion will get
you going. Patience will keep you moving forward.
Starting small allows you and your dream to grow together. Start off too big and you’ll have trouble keeping up.
Sticking with something that starts off small proves you really want it. If everyone started off a success, how could they tell whether it was their goal, or only what came easiest.
Small starts make it easier to correct mistakes. You’ll make them. Everyone does. It’s a much kinder pursuit to fix little blunders than recover from major mishaps.
You find out what you’re made of. Anyone can be successful when things are handed to them. It takes guts, courage and tenacity to grow something small.
I’ve learned over the years to grow with my business. I don’t despise small beginnings. I embrace them. So should you. Once your dream grows, the moments of your day will be taken by other pressing things.
Who do you consider successful in life? Imagine that person. I promise you they started out small as well. They grew to accomplish great things because they did not despise small beginnings. Love them. Use them as stepping stones to live your own dream. If you do, every day will be exciting and fulfilling.
What is your small beginning? Have you embraced it? Share it here!
